Jason needs to complete all the requirements for wolf rank in scouts by his birthday (August 7th). Because of moving and me forgetting that scouts is on Thursday (oops), he had a lot to complete in a short amount of time. One of the things he needed to do was visit an important building in the community. And me, being the queen of overkill, thought "what is more important than the state capital?" So off we went. Did you know that Utah has one of the 10 most beautiful capitals in the United States? The building is now equipped to withstand a major earthquake thanks to the big rubber disks it sits on. You can view the disks in the basement- very cool. We got to see the governor's fake office (his real one is behind the fake one) and his secretary gave the kids a pencil. Jason liked the gargoyles and Kayla liked the gold room. After the tour of the capital we headed over to the pioneer museum, which is another story for another day.

Sounds like a nice little adventure. Hopefully Jason will get everything accomplished that he needs to before his birthday.
What a fun outing. I need to get my kids up there one day.
